To all in the St. Francis College family,
Our 2020–21 academic year will be like no other, as we adapt to our current reality, which includes finding ways to connect virtually. We have used this time to rethink the Terrier and transition to a digital format. It is our hope that this new platform will highlight current events throughout SFC as well as share the achievements of our alumni on a regular basis.
We remain in prayer for all those suffering and for those lost in the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m humbled by the outpouring of genuine concern and heartfelt generosity—the true Franciscan spirit—exhibited by so many in our community.
This fall, SFC launched our celebration of The Year of First Responders and Veterans, and I can think of no better time to honor the selfless sacrifice of every one of you who has chosen a life of service and continues to put others first.
Throughout the coming year, we will acknowledge and share some extraordinary stories of our SFC family in action. Those of you who have been around a lot longer than me know full well, in times of crisis, the St. Francis College family has always stepped up—and proudly, that commitment to putting others first continues.
I am also proud of the amazing resiliency of our students during these challenging and unprecedented times. That we welcomed the largest incoming class in the College’s history is a testament to the young generation’s commitment to education, and to the perseverance among our community to continually boost and encourage them, opening doors of opportunity so they can pursue their dreams.
Our believers—those alumni and their families, friends, corporations, foundations, and elected officials who support our mission—remain at the heart of what we do. “Thank you” is never enough.
While we missed interacting with many of you in-person at our typical spring and summer events, like our Charter Award Dinner, your treasure and talent remain continually visible. The 4th Annual Brendan J. Dugan Memorial Meadow Brook Golf Outing in September had a different format and presentation than in years past as we adhered to social-distancing rules, but it was our first foray back into “real world” events. Seeing smiling faces there, united in cause, affirmed that our community shows up even in the most trying times.
I am profoundly grateful to partner with all of you to steward St. Francis College and the ideals set forth more than 160 years ago when the Franciscan Brothers first opened its doors. Together with you, we remain Driven by Dreams and fueled by your generosity!
